Data protection declaration

As we attach great importance to the protection of your data and your privacy, we have drawn up this data protection declaration which explains what we do in this respect when you browse our website (www.camping-cudrefin.ch).

This data protection declaration only covers the processing of data relating to our website and its functionalities. Specific data protection declarations may apply to other services we may offer.

In the canton of Vaud, data protection is based in particular on the Vaud Data Protection Act(LPrD) and the Regulations for the Application of the Vaud Data Protection Act(RLPrD). These laws apply to public entities in Vaud, which are required to comply with their legal provisions. Our data protection declaration, and our practices, are aligned with them.

Although we make every effort to simplify our data protection declaration, the difficulty of understanding it stems from the language specific to the legal framework. This is why we have taken the initiative of grouping together the main definitions to make our data protection declaration easier to understand, as these are taken from the DPA.

  • Data subject: any natural or legal person in respect of whom data is processed.
  • Personal data: any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
  • Sensitive personal data: any personal data relating to (i) religious, philosophical, political or trade union opinions or activities, or to ethnic origin; (ii) the private sphere of the individual, in particular his or her psychological, mental or physical state; (iii) individual measures and assistance arising from social legislation; and (iv) criminal or administrative proceedings or sanctions.
  • Processing: any operation or set of operations that may or may not be performed using automated processes and applied to personal data, in particular collection, recording, organization, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, communication, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, blocking, erasure or destruction.
  • Data controller: the natural or legal person, public authority, department or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of processing.
  • Sub-processor: the natural or legal person, public authority or other body that processes personal data on behalf of the data controller.
  • Autorité vaudoise de protection des données et de droit à l'information (Vaud authority for data protection and the right to information ): the authority responsible for overseeing the proper application of cantonal data protection provisions, in particular the LPrD.

Finally, we use the term "data" interchangeably with "personal data".

Our role

As data controller, we are responsible for determining the purposes for which we process your personal data, the manner in which it is processed, and the security measures. When we work with service providers in the course of our business, we ensure that they share our commitment to data protection and comply with the same standards we apply.

Your role

Data protection is everyone's business. We therefore encourage you to read our data protection declaration.

We also encourage you, if you are one of our customers, to consult the contractual documents that bind us, as these may contain further details on how we process your data.

Finally, if you provide us with personal data about other people, such as members of your family, we assume that you have given us prior authorization and that the data is accurate.

As soon as you interact with our website for the first time, we collect data (e.g. to determine whether or not you consent to the placement of cookies). You also provide us with your data when you contact us (e.g. via our e-mail address) and use our website services (e.g. to book a holiday).

What categories of data do we process?

Depending on your navigation on our website, we may process the following categories of data about you:

Data relating to payment methods as such are processed solely by our partner. We do not process credit card or CVC numbers.

Internet and connection data

For technical reasons and in order to improve our website, each use of it generates certain data, in particular your IP address, information on your Internet service provider and on the operating system of your device, information on the referring URL, information on the browser used, the date and time of access and the contents consulted during the visit to the website.

Other data

When you make a booking on our website, we also process other data such as your estimated time of arrival, your motor vehicle registration number, the dimensions of your caravan, motorhome or tent and any comments you may make.

If you make reservations via a third-party platform, we receive various personal data from the platform concerned in connection with the reservation you have made. This generally consists of contact and economic data, but may also include other data.

What about sensitive data?

We do not collect or process any sensitive personal data.

What about data relating to minors?

Although access to our website is open to all, our services are intended for adults only. We do not target minors and we do not deliberately collect any personal data about them.

Why do we process your data?

We process your data for the purposes of communicating with you, in particular to respond to your requests and exercise your rights, to inform you of our services, and to process your requests in connection with a reservation. We also process your personal data in order to be able to generate visitor statistics useful for improving our website. Finally, we process your personal data to comply with the laws, directives and recommendations of the authorities.

What are your rights?

Your rights vary according to specific circumstances and may be subject to exceptions. Generally speaking, the HPA provides for the following.

  • You have the right to access your data.
  • You have the right to have inaccurate data corrected.
  • You have the right to object to the processing of your data.
  • You have the right to request the deletion or destruction of your data.

If you wish to exercise any of the above rights, please contact us. In order to prevent misuse, we must first identify you (e.g. by means of a copy of your identity card, if no other means of identification is possible). Please note that conditions, exceptions and restrictions may apply to the exercise of these rights in accordance with the Data Protection Act (e.g. to protect third parties). Should this be the case, we will inform you.

If you believe that we are processing your data in a way that contravenes data protection provisions, you also have the option of reporting us to the Vaud Data Protection and Information Rights Authority. We encourage you to inform us first, so that we have the opportunity to address your concerns. If we are unable to do so, you can contact the Vaud Data Protection and Information Rights Authority by following the instructions given on their website.

How do we secure your data?

We take appropriate security measures, such as encryption, to ensure the security of your personal data and guarantee its confidentiality, integrity, availability and traceability. Unfortunately, data security can never be fully guaranteed. If you believe that your personal data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Where is your data stored?

The personal data we collect is stored on our premises, as well as in the processing centers operated by our service providers.

How long do we keep your data?

We process your personal data for as long as the purpose of processing requires it, for as long as we have a legitimate interest in preserving it (e.g. to enforce our rights, for archiving purposes or to ensure IT security) and for as long as the data is subject to a legal retention obligation. For some data, the retention period is, for example, ten years. Once these periods have elapsed, we destroy your personal data.

Who do we share your data with?

The management of our website involves collaboration with specialized external service providers, in particular for its creation, maintenance and hosting. The integration of certain services into our website (e.g. reservations) also involves collaboration with specialized external service providers. We collaborate with service providers recognized in their field of expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our website and, more generally, the quality of our services. Within the framework of these collaborations, it may be necessary to communicate your data to our service providers. Please be assured that these communications are strictly limited to what is necessary and are carried out in compliance with the legal framework.

Where personal data is transferred to a service provider located outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA) and not offering an adequate level of protection, we require that the service provider undertakes to comply with the applicable data protection legislation (for this purpose, we use the revised standard contractual clauses of the European Commission), unless the service provider is already subject to a legally accepted set of rules designed to guarantee data protection (Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework) or we can invoke an exception.
